Providers will not be able to succeed within the MIPS payment structure without a QCDR. While it is possible initially to continue to report clinical quality measures via claims, submitting clinical quality measure (QM) data via the USWR QCDR (Qualified Clinical Data Registry) is what will allow Providers to access Wound Care specific measures and Podiatry specific measures, as well as 18 other specialty-specific clinical quality measures.
In addition to the use of the USWR QCDR for clnical quality measure reporting, submitting data to the US Wound Registry earns points for Advancing Care Information (ACI).
Perhaps more importantly, a QCDR is necessary to succeed in the category of Clinical Practice Improvement Activities (CPIA). That means that participating in a QCDR is needed for 3/4 categories of MIPS. REVIEW CPIA PROJECTS
